International Day of Families
Each month, Union WELL Inc. at Sacramento State shines a spotlight on creativity, inclusion, and community through our Sticker of the Month campaign—and for May, we’re proud to present a design inspired by the International Day of Families (celebrated annually on May 15th).
This month’s sticker features a heart-shaped Earth, symbolizing the global nature of family love and connection. Around the heart, you'll see a circle of little figures holding hands—each representing families and friends from diverse cultural backgrounds, unified in joy and support. Their various colors celebrate the beautiful tapestry of human experience and remind us that family comes in all forms, united across continents, traditions, and generations.
Designed to be direct and meaningful, this sticker encapsulates the powerful message that family is where love lives, no matter where in the world you are.
Why International Day of Families Matters
Established by the United Nations, this day raises awareness of the importance of family as a fundamental unit of society. It’s a time to reflect on how families—biological, chosen, and extended—shape our wellbeing, values, and sense of belonging.
