Sexual Assault Awareness Month
About the April 2025 Sticker- Raising Awareness for Sexual Assault Awareness Month
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)—a time dedicated to education, prevention, and supporting survivors of sexual violence. At Union WELL Inc., we believe in using our platform to foster conversations that create safer communities. This month’s Sticker of the Month is designed to promote awareness, encourage solidarity, and highlight the resources available to support survivors at Sacramento State.
What is Sexual Assault Awareness Month?
SAAM is a national movement to raise awareness about sexual violence, support survivors, and educate communities on prevention strategies. The goal is to create a culture where everyone feels safe, respected, and empowered to speak out against sexual violence.
April’s Sticker: More Than Just a Design
Our Sticker of the Month is not just a sticker—it’s a statement.
When creating this sticker, the Designer wanted to create something that carried both deep meaning and a sense of empowerment. The choice of teal as the main color comes from its recognized symbolism in SA awareness, often seen in the ribbon representing this cause. To further enhance the message, they integrated a butterfly into the design, merging it with the ribbon. Butterflies are powerful symbols of hope, transformation, and strength—qualities that resonate deeply with the journey of healing and resilience.
Beyond these elements, faces are also subtly included of both men and women. This was intentional, as SA can impact anyone, regardless of gender. By incorporating both, the Designer aimed to create an inclusive representation that acknowledges all survivors and their experiences.
Ultimately, this design is meant to be more than just a symbol—it’s a message of support, recognition, and encouragement. While it acknowledges the struggles survivors face, it also serves as a reminder of their strength and the possibility of healing. By displaying this sticker, you show solidarity with survivors and help spread awareness about the importance of consent, boundaries, and respectful relationships.
